The St Louis River at its source

The St Louis River, which drains a big part of northeastern Minnesota, starts a few miles south of the proposed NorthMet sulfide mine, at Seven Beaver Lake, a remote and wild part of the state. Rivers more directly threatened by the NorthMet mine, such as the Embarrass and Partridge Rivers, empty into the St Louis River near Hoyt Lakes.
